Donations Pro - Welcome to VB4, February 17, 2011 |
| Reviewer: Rob, Admin ARRSE |
| We have long used and been involved in discussion about the development of Donations Pro (so there is a certain amount of bias here, but I will be objective). Donations formed one of the most reliable income streams of our old Dragonfly site and Donations Pro was probably the most important CMS module after the forums. We moved to VBulletin 4 at the end of 2010 - an almost entirely positive step, with the exception of the lack of gallery and only the comparatively basic VSaDonate available to handle donations. The key failings of VSaDonate that made us speak to NukeBiz about a port were the lack of support for multiple donor groups (Gold,Silver,Bronze donor or whatever) and the poor tracking of successful or failed payment and associated admin burden. It was also not easy to see a total donations figure for a user (in the admin) and the auto-groups function didn't seem to work anyway. Donations Pro does all of this very well, and also handles subscriptions, one off auctions and, well, read the spec. The completion of the port and return to DonationsPro has been a huge improvement, reduced admin load (critical for us) and we have seen subscription payments start again. For a system that fully handles a key income stream for most sites, the asking price is a bargain and NukeBiz are always ready to take suggestions and improve. There's a real passion for the product and I'll watch its continued evolution with interest. |
